Mountain Pass Rooms:
Deep In The Orchard
Living Inside The Orchard
The Mountain Pass rooms sit on raised ground, right in the middle of the apple orchard. The balcony opens into it, the windows look out to it, and on still mornings the orchard is the first thing you see and the first thing you smell. Named after two of Himachal's most legendary passes — Chanderkhani and Rohtang — each room sits differently on the ground floor, giving it its own orientation, its own light, its own character. Step outside and the library lounge is right there. One of the most quietly immersive rooms on the property — not because of what it shows you, but because of where it places you.

HANDCRAFTED
Made Here
Every piece of furniture in the Mountain Pass rooms was made on-site by hand. Indian rosewood — dense, dark-grained, and finished only with a preservative that keeps the wood exactly as it is. No polish, no factory finish. Just the material and the craft.
Floors Shared With The Elite
The Mountain Pass rooms share the same hardwood floor design as the Elite rooms — three woods, one surface, laid by hand in a pattern the founder designed himself. Willow, Himalayan mahogany, and Indian rosewood, each bringing its own colour and grain. The kind of floor that catches light differently at every hour of the day.
FLOOR
Mud Walls, Ancient Logic
The walls are mud plastered in the Himachali tradition — layered by hand with cow dung, rice husk, and pine needles. No paint anywhere. What you see is what the wall actually is. Warm in winter, cool in summer, and completely honest about what it is made of.
Apple’s At Arms Length
The Mountain Pass rooms are the closest any room at ShivAdya gets to the orchard. The trees are right outside — blossoming in spring, heavy with fruit in autumn, bare and stark in winter against the mountains. The season announces itself through your window before you check your phone.
SENSORY DETAIL
The Orchard All Around You
Two Rooms, Two Worlds
Each Mountain Pass room faces a different direction and sits differently on the ground floor. The light comes in at a different angle, the orchard looks different from each balcony, and the view shifts between front mountain and side orchard depending on which room you are in. Same category, entirely different experience.
The Library, Just Outside
Step out of the room and the library lounge is right there — a quiet space to read, sit, and do nothing in particular. The proximity is not accidental. These rooms are for guests who want to be inside the property, not just staying in it.
