Village Rooms:
Where Roots Run Deep
The Orchard At Your Door
The Village rooms sit on raised ground, opening directly into the garden — the rose garden on one side, the apple orchard on the other, the swimming pool and the mountains straight ahead. Named after two villages of the Kullu valley, Sajla and Fozal, these rooms feel exactly like that — like a home that has always been here. Local wood walls, local wood floors, a sit-out that leads to the garden gazebo overlooking the pool and the Dhauladhar behind it. One of the few rooms on the property where the pool, the orchard, and the mountains are all in the same view. Cozy, unhurried, and quietly the most personal rooms at ShivAdya.

WARMTH
Mud That Insulates
The walls are mud plastered by hand — the same technique used in village homes across Himachal for centuries. Layered with cow dung, rice husk, and pine needles, smoothed without tools. In winter, the walls hold the warmth in. In summer, they keep the heat out. The room breathes on its own.
Wood In Its Natural State
The furniture, walls, and floors of the Village rooms are all local fir wood — treated with a German preservative that protects the grain without altering it. No polish, no stain. The colour you see is the colour the wood actually is. Warm, natural, and honest in a way that finishes never quite manage to be.
FLOOR
Floors Laid By Hand
The Village room floors are hardwood — willow, Himalayan mahogany, and Indian rosewood — laid by hand in a design the founder drew himself. You notice it when the morning light comes through and catches the grain at an angle.
Roses At The Window
The Village rooms sit inside the rose garden. On warm mornings the scent comes through before you open your eyes. No fragrance, no effort. Just the garden doing what it has always done.
SENSORY DETAIL
The Feeling of Coming Home
The Pool Below, The Mountains Beyond
From the sit-out and the garden gazebo, the swimming pool sits in the foreground and the Dhauladhar fills everything behind it. It is the kind of view that makes you pull up a chair and stay longer than you planned.
A Room That Feels Lived In
The local wood, the mud walls, the orchard right outside — everything about the Village rooms points to the same feeling. Not a hotel room you check into. A home you come back to.
